Update from Mike Jackson

Greetings from Afghanistan!

Almost 8,000 miles, six days, and stops into five different countries, I have finally arrived back, not only in the United States, but more specifically, Alabama. This letter marks the culmination of my six-month tour as an Army Aviator in Afghanistan. I know that some of you have kept up with my whereabouts and status through the Crow Friedman website. I am pleased to say that I am officially home and that I am not scheduled for another deployment.

Overall, the tour was a success. Obviously, being part of the 82nd Airborne Division, we saw our fair share of excitement. Everyone in my detachment survived the tour, although one person was sent home early for medical reasons. Our detachment flew more flight hours and more missions than any of the previous units. I personally flew over 300 combat flight hours, which involved transporting soldiers and civilians from the lowest of ranks all the way up to the Theatre Commanding General, and numerous other VIP's.

I am thankful to John Crow, Don Friedman, Jackie Hallen and the rest of the staff at Crow Friedman Group, for spending countless additional hours keeping our Alabama clients serviced. Also, I'd like to extend a special thank you to all the clients that chose to show support of my effort by continuing your business relationship with me and with Crow Friedman Group. I realize it was a bit inconvenient for you, but the United States needed my service and experience. I am most happy to be home and to be of service to you once again.

This deployment was not about Mike Jackson. This deployment was really about doing what needed to be done for our country and my family. I can report to you that, from being in Afghanistan, talking to the locals and people from numerous other nations, what we are doing in Afghanistan is, without question, very much appreciated. It is helping us control the terrorist attacks, not only in the U.S., but also the World.

In closing, I would like to thank you for your thoughts, emails, letters, care packages and all the many prayers.
